We have just received a grant from the Natural Resource Conservation Service to restore a 1 acre pond and a 10 acre long stream! This will provide clean water year round to the upland and wetland wildlife that we have on the property. Along the stream we will plant rare & declining native vegetation which will include live oak, englemann oak, valley oak, toyon, lemonberry and laurel sumac. The vegetation will provide food and cover for our upland wildlife. Restoration will also include planting of emergent wetland vegetation including rushes, sedges, mule fat and willows for our wetland wildlife. This 3 year project will begin in November of 2011! |
